Retail Figures Down for June – Positive Impact on E-Commerce?
June retail figures recently released are weak with one sector feeling it more then others, fashion. One of those hardest hit was mall-based giant Abercrombie & Fitch as were many other mall-based clothing retailers. Experts agree that parents are appearing to forgo the brand loyalty seen in the recent past for lesser known brands offered at a discount.
Some retailers, such as TJX Cos.(4% gain) and Ross Stores (1% gain) showed some positive signs. One thing in common between these retailers, they offer brand named clothing at discounted prices.
Some experts attribute some of June’s retail statistics to a higher then expected jobless rate, increased fuel prices and believe it or not, a tremendous amount of rain in various parts of the country.
Although statistics for e-commerce in June have yet to be published, forecasters predicted better numbers then the bricks and mortar locations. Only time will tell but some bright spots for e-commerce are witnessed in the survey performed by The NRF.
Three (3) statistics standout to me here:
- 24.3% of shoppers reported more comparative shopping online
- 14% of shoppers claim to do more online shopping
Several other statistics interest me because e-commerce just may be the answer they have yet to see
- 39.6% of shoppers said they use more coupons (we provide coupons codes so they won’t have to search them out)
- 42.9% of shoppers said they make less trips to the store (e-commerce offers fuel savings and time savings)
- 42.6% of shoppers look for more sales (owning your own shopping portal provides you with CASHBACK for every purchase made)
No matter where you turn, E-Commerce seems to be one bright spot in our current economic landscape. Whether or not the business opportunity we offer is the option of choice for you, e-commerce is where you need to be if you want to start your own business or just save some money. There are many options available so choose wisely.
Good luck!!!
