Blogging: Tips and Ideas for Providing New and Fresh Content

Hopefully some of you have started your own blog or at least have investigated the various platform options out there. If you have begun blogging, congratulations! Getting that first post published is very exciting.  It’s your content, your story, your words and you can share it with the world or keep it for friends and family.  Either way, keep the content flowing!

What are your blogging about? Have you decided or just making a go if it day by day? Which ever it is, the idea is to keep publishing your posts. In order to become successful you must continue to supply quality content.  Whether you have a specialized or general topic, the idea is to keep people interested and returning to your posts. Don’t worry right now about gaining readers as they will come when your blog has some depth.

If you have a some topic that you are familiar with and blog about it, great! Keep it coming! Let’s say you are an avid photographer. You can blog about which types of things you photograph, the type of equipment you use and why. You can ask questions to generate comments and maybe learn something from your readers. Are you a muscle car enthusiast? If you, are you can blog about the types of cars you like such as the 1971 Dodge Charger R/T with a monster Hemi pumping out an incredible 425 horsepower!

Blogging topics are endless but maybe you are unsure of your topic or theme now and that it is ok. You can browse news stories and blog your reaction to it. You can also browse other blogs to get an idea. Read through other bloggers posts to help you conjure up some ideas. If you like something you read be sure to let the author know. Comment on their blog and if the comment form allows you to enter your blog site, please do so! This will help you later when you begin to connect with other blogs (we will cover that at another time).

Be sure to make blogging a part of your routine. Depending on the resource, posting daily is recommended but you should NEVER go more then 1 week without posting content. You want to keep your blog fresh.

Believe me, I am always on the look out for tips on improving my blog and I always try some experiments. Some work and some do not. Have fun and keep posting!

Retail Figures Down for June – Positive Impact on E-Commerce?

June retail figures recently released are weak with one sector feeling it more then others, fashion. One of those hardest hit was mall-based giant Abercrombie & Fitch as were many other mall-based clothing retailers.  Experts agree that parents are appearing to forgo the brand loyalty seen in the recent past for lesser known brands offered at a discount.

Some retailers, such as TJX Cos.(4% gain) and Ross Stores (1% gain) showed some positive signs.  One thing in common between these retailers, they offer brand named clothing at discounted prices.

Some experts attribute some of June’s retail statistics to a higher then expected jobless rate, increased fuel prices and believe it or not, a tremendous amount of rain in various parts of the country.

Although statistics for e-commerce in June have yet to be published, forecasters predicted better numbers then the bricks and mortar locations.  Only time will tell but some bright spots for e-commerce are witnessed in the survey performed by The NRF.

National Retail Federation's 2009 Indep Day Consumer Intentions & Actions Survey

Three (3) statistics standout to me here:

  • 24.3% of shoppers reported more comparative shopping online
  • 14% of shoppers claim to do more online shopping

Several other statistics interest me because e-commerce just may be the answer they have yet to see

  • 39.6% of shoppers said they use more coupons (we provide coupons codes so they won’t have to search them out)
  • 42.9% of shoppers said they make less trips to the store (e-commerce offers fuel savings and time savings)
  • 42.6% of shoppers look for more sales (owning your own shopping portal provides you with CASHBACK for every purchase made)

No matter where you turn, E-Commerce seems to be one bright spot in our current economic landscape.  Whether or not the business opportunity we offer is the option of choice for you, e-commerce is where you need to be if you want to start your own business or just save some money.  There are many options available so choose wisely.

Good luck!!!
